Hitting up a strip club in Vegas is almost a right of passage. For some, it’s even a ca n’t-miss destination every time they visit Sin City.
For those new to Vegas or just new to strip clubs, there are a few things you never want to do inside the club.
Of course, you’ll probably break every one of these rules at least once (we all do). But don’t say you weren’t warned.
1: Going Without A Budget
Unless you’re a crypto millionaire or just sold your scam AI startup for $10 billion, you want to have a budget before you go to a strip club.
Yeah, I know that sounds like the opposite of the strip club dream where you toss unlimited money into the air.
But if you don’t want to go broke and regret it in the morning when you can’t afford cab fare to the airport, set a budget.
The budget isn’t really about the upper limit, but a budget helps you set you fast your spend your money.
If your budget for the night is $500 and you know that’s the limit, you won’t blow $300 in the first 15 minutes. Yes, you can blow $300 in 15 minutes in a Vegas strip club.
Set your budget and stick to it. You might break your budget, but that’s why there’s rule number two.
2: Bringing Your Credit Card To A Strip Club
Always, and I mean always, get your cash before you go and leave your credit card in the hotel room.
First of all, the ATM fees inside Vegas strip clubs can be as high as $40. But even if you don’t mind paying ridiculous fees, most of the sad regret after a night at a strip club from taking out more cash.
Here why. By the time you need to take out more cash, you’ve probably had most of the fun you can have at a strip club. Taking out an extra $500 won’t really add to the night.
At the time it may feel like it will, but as someone who has done this a million times, the laws of diminishing returns kick in once you hit the ATM at a strip club.
Not to mention, the strippers will all see you as an easy mark when you walk away from the ATM.
3: Get A Private Dance With The First Girl Who Approaches You
This is for those who are new to the strip club scene. As soon as you walk in, the most aggressive girl in the club is going to attach herself to you.
If you’re a novice, she’s probably coerced you into getting a dance even if she’s not your type. If you let her win, you just blew through a good chunk of your budget with a girl you didn’t even like.
Don’t be afraid to tell a girl you’re not looking for a dance right now. Don’t feel bad, the girls are all just fishing. It’s better to tell them straight up so they can move on to a guy who might say yes. You won’t hurt their feelings and you’re actually helping them.
4: Get Talked Into A Package at The Front Door
When you show up to a Vegas strip club in a group, the person at the door will likely try to sell you on a package deal.
Unless you know you’re way around a strip club, you should pass on these packages. The only exception is if you and your group are looking for a specific experience included in the package.
But once again, you have to understand how the club works and what you’ll actually get.
If you and your crew are just stopping in to check out some girls and grab a quick dance, don’t get talked into any packages.
5: Show Up Way Too Early
I’ve seen groups start partying in Vegas and end up at the strip club around 7 or 8 p.m. The Problem is, the fun girls haven’t even shown up at this hour and the club will be dead.
Most strippers don’t wake up until the afternoon. Then they sit around and smoke weed in their sweatpants until about 10 p.m. when they finally grab an Uber to the club.
You can go to a Vegas strip club whenever you want. Just understand that they really don’t kick off until after 10 p.m. and the prime time is around 12-1 a.m., like a nightclub.
If you do go early, don’t expect to see any girls on stage and expect to be hounded by every girl in there.
6: Placing Your Money on The Stage Like Bait
Some people may not like this one as they probably are guilty of doing this. Usually, I see female customers doing this the most but it’s when someone at the stage uses dollars to build a little pile of dollars.
Maybe they fold the bills and stack them like logs or something similar. The girls don’t really like this as they like the stage to be pretty clear. The other people on the stage don’t generally like this either.
Of course, it’s your money and it’s Vegas, so do whatever you want. But generally, the money should either be in your hand, in the air or placing it on the stripper if they’re cool with it.
7: Get In a Fight Over A Stripper
Those bouncers are at strip clubs for a reason, and it’s usually not to protect the strippers.
I’ve personally seen countless fights at strip clubs and every manager and bouncer I’ve known has countless stories about fights. Sometimes they’re in the club and sometimes they happen out in the parking lot.
Listen, guys, these are strippers, not your girlfriend or wife. Don’t get into a fight over a stripper. It’s the dumbest thing you can do and there are no winners in a fight over a stripper.
If you win the fight, you’ll likely get arrested or sued. If you lose, you just got beat up over a stripper, which is definitely a low point.
8: Sitting at The Stage And Not Tipping
The strippers want you to tip at the stage. But you also ruin it for the other customers if you don’t tip.
When guys are sitting at the stage and not tipping, the strippers are very unmotivated. For those that don’t know, the strippers have a schedule and they rotate through the different stages within a club and dance for 2-3 songs, then move on to the next stage.
If nobody is tipping, they just go through the motions on stage. Worse yet, the club will sometimes just shut down the stages. When that happens, your strip club just turns into an overpriced bar with girls demanding private dances.
If you sit at the stage, at least tip. If you don’t want to tip, hang out at the bar and deal with the private dance hard sellers.
9: Buy A Bunch of Private Dances in Advance
This rule is similar to the one about not buying packages at the front door. But these are sold by the individual dancers. Some clubs and strippers will try to sell time instead of individual dances or songs.
For example, they’ll offer 30 minutes for $500 or an hour for $850.
Don’t ever do this. Once that girl gets her $850 (or her cut of it after paying the house) she has no interest in making sure you have a good show. The only exception is if you plan on getting another hour after the first one.
However, if you blow $1700 in two hours at a strip club, you either don’t need my advice or you’re a lost cause.
Always try to pay by the dance or a few dances up front. Some girls might get mad, but if they get mad that just means they were going to give you a lame show once you coughed up the cash for the expensive package.
A girl who’s cool with giving one or two dances and hopes she can lure into getting more is way more fun, trust me on this one.
10: Hanging Out in Front of The Club When You Leave
If you’re taking an Uber or cab from the strip club, make sure it’s pulling up before you go outside. In Vegas, lots of hustlers and unsavory folks hang out near strip clubs at night.
They know drunk tourists are stumbling out, often with cash left in their pockets. It’s a prime spot to get robbed, hustled, or worse.
There are even fake Ubers that pull up trying to get you to jump inside.
Don’t expect the strip club to keep the area safe. Once you walk out that door, they don’t care what goes on.
Everybody Breaks at least One of These Rules
Yes, if you go to strip clubs enough, you’ll break almost every rule on this list and probably a bunch more. In some ways, that’s part of the fun.
But just remember, at a strip club, you control the flow of money. If you do that, you’ll have a much better time and not wake up the next day without enough money to catch a cab to the airport.
It’s not about being cheap either. Why blow $2K when you can have the same fun for $500?
Just be smart and you can have a blast the next you visit a Vegas strip club.
